Privacy Policy

What information this site collects, why, and what you can do about it.

Last updated: [July, 2026]

This policy explains how dentocrates.com handles information about the people who visit it. Dentocrates is an educational website. It is free to use and does not require an account.

The short version

This site does not ask you for your name, your email address, or any other personal detail in order to use it. It does not sell data. It does use Google services — hosting, analytics and advertising — and those services set cookies and collect usage information in the ordinary way. You can opt out of personalised advertising through Google's own settings, linked below.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, this site and the services it runs on record certain technical information automatically when you visit:

  • Your IP address and approximate location derived from it
  • Your browser type, operating system and device type
  • The pages you view, the time of your visit, and how long you stay
  • The site or search that referred you here

This site is hosted on Blogger, a Google service, and Google collects this information as part of providing that hosting.

Cookies and similar technologies

Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics to understand which pages are read and how people move through the site. Analytics cookies record usage in aggregate. This information is used to decide what to write next, not to identify individual readers.

Advertising

This site displays advertising served by Google. Google and its partners use cookies to serve advertisements based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet. You can opt out of personalised advertising at any time by visiting Google Ads Settings.

Third-party vendors and ad networks may also serve ads on this site and use their own cookies. You can opt out of many of these through aboutads.info or Your Online Choices.

Interactive quizzes

Some quizzes and question widgets on this site store a small amount of information in your own browser — for example, which sample questions you have already been shown, so that returning visitors see new ones. This information stays on your device, is not sent anywhere, and is not linked to you. Clearing your browser data removes it.

Managing cookies

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Doing so will not prevent you from reading anything on this site, though some interactive features may behave differently.

Information you give voluntarily

Messages sent through the contact form

If you send a message through the contact form, I will have your message and whatever contact details you choose to include. I use them to reply to you and for nothing else. I do not add correspondents to any mailing list, and I do not share these messages.

Comments

If commenting is enabled on a page and you leave a comment, your comment and the display name attached to your Google account will be publicly visible. Comments are handled by Blogger and are subject to Google's Privacy Policy.

What this site does not do

  • It does not sell, rent or trade personal information.
  • It does not require registration, and it does not maintain user accounts.
  • It does not knowingly collect clinical or health information about you.
  • It does not run a newsletter or marketing list.

External links

This site links to external organisations — regulators, professional bodies, training providers and reference sources — and to a YouTube channel. Once you follow a link, you are on someone else's site and their privacy policy applies, not this one. Links are provided for reference and do not imply endorsement.

Children

This site is written for dental students and professionals and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided information through this site, please contact me and I will delete it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to personal information held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Because this site does not maintain accounts or a subscriber database, in most cases there is very little to access — but if you have emailed me and would like that correspondence deleted, say so and I will delete it.

Australian visitors can find general information about privacy rights at the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Data held by Google

Because this site runs on Google services, much of the information described above is held by Google rather than by me. Google's own handling of that information is governed by the Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites that use our services.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as the site changes or as the services it relies on change. The date at the top shows when it was last revised. Material changes will be noted on this page.

Note: this policy describes how the site operates and is provided for transparency. It is not legal advice. If you have specific legal obligations relating to your own circumstances, seek advice from a qualified practitioner.
