The written examination is computer-delivered at Pearson VUE test centres and normally runs twice a year. Questions are scenario-based: a clinical vignette followed by several linked single-best-answer questions, so the paper tests clinical reasoning rather than isolated recall.

A note on terminology. "Part 1" and "Part 2" are how candidates commonly refer to the written and practical examinations. The ADC's own materials call them the Written Examination and the Practical Examination — worth knowing when you're searching their site.
