About

Dentocrates

Is a free, carefully referenced dental study material for students, overseas-trained dentists preparing for the ADC examinations, and dental assistants working in Australia.

Dentocrates began in 2021 as a small collection of multiple choice questions written while studying, and shared in the hope they'd be useful to someone else. It has grown into a free library of subject-wise MCQs, examination preparation material, clinical reference notes, and practical guidance for people building dental careers in Australia.

Everything here is free to use. There is no login, no paywall, and no subscription.

A note on how the material is prepared. Questions and explanations are written from standard dental texts and current clinical guidelines, and the source is named on each answer wherever possible. Nothing on this site is reproduced from any past or current examination paper.

What you'll find here

  • Subject-wise MCQs — questions organised by discipline and chapter, each with a worked explanation and a textbook reference.
  • ADC examination preparation — study material for the written and practical stages, including original scenario-based practice questions.
  • Clinical guidelines and prescribing notes — quick reference for everyday practice in Australia.
  • Dental assisting in Australia — practical guidance for overseas-trained dentists and for people entering dentistry from other fields.
  • Free CPD and resources — reading, references and continuing education that costs nothing.

How to use this site, and how not to

This material is intended for study and general reference. It is not clinical advice, and it is not a substitute for your own reading, your supervisor's judgement, or current guidelines from the relevant authority.

Regulations change. Where this site discusses registration, award rates, radiation licensing or prescribing, always confirm the current position with the responsible body — the Australian Dental Council, the Dental Board of Australia, the Fair Work Ombudsman, or your state regulator, as applicable.

Passing an examination is your own work. Nothing here predicts examination content, and no question on this site has been taken from a real paper.

Corrections

If you find something inaccurate or out of date, please tell me. Dentistry moves, guidelines are revised, and a correction from a reader is genuinely welcome. You can reach me through the contact page.

Support

Dentocrates is free and runs on advertising to cover hosting costs. Advertisements are clearly separated from the content, and no advertiser has any influence over what is written here.
